About Kumanomoto
A Local Earthwork Crew for Coeur d’Alene Sites
Kumanomoto runs land excavation and earthwork for property owners across Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and the surrounding Kootenai County towns. We handle the full range, from clearing and grubbing a wooded lot to digging foundations, trenching utilities, and placing structural fill under a new pad. The part we get asked about most is material, so we treat every job as a chance to explain the difference between fill dirt, structural fill, and crushed aggregate base before the first bucket moves.
North Idaho ground has its own habits. It freezes and thaws through the winter, and water trapped under a slab or driveway heaves it every cycle. That is why we build positive drainage, separate soft subgrade from clean base rock with geotextile fabric, and compact fill in controlled lifts rather than a single thick dump. A pad built to about 95 percent of maximum dry density stays put for decades.
How We Work
- Material matched to the load. Fill dirt shapes grade, structural fill carries weight, and crushed aggregate builds a firm, draining base. We pick the right one for the job.
- Compacted to spec. Fill goes down in six to eight inch lifts and gets compacted and tested where the plan calls for it.
- Locate first. We place an 811 locate before any dig, so the crew stays clear of buried lines off Government Way and Ramsey Road.
- Licensed and insured. A local crew you can reach, glad to share our details.
